So I've waited until the end of the day today to reflect and I know all of you have been devotedly checking every hour on the hour for an update for today!! Okay so I may be exaggerating BUT!! Any who, its been a nice little Friday in my cocoon of an office/desk/bed. I took two naps today and am refreshed for Kevin's arrival tonight!! I know he is too as we haven't seen each other since Monday. For some of you that may not seem like a long time apart, but for a couple who sees each other daily, at work in addition to at home its a long time, let me tell you!
Today twins went home. I felt for those parents, I can't imagine taking two babies home!! I have no idea how those parents do it, but I guess parenting is like that, you don't know how you make it through at times!! LOVE!
I had two wonderful visitors this afternoon, Kim and Aunt Jane! Kim brought a gift from another friend and another from the ladies of the Country Club. Ladies both were very thoughtful!! Thank you! It was so nice to have smiling faces and someone to talk to besides Facebook. I'll tell you there aren't many people on during the day updating statuses and info so it gets old fast. Real conversation is a welcome change of pace. Aunt Jane brought me several books to occupy time with as well as some comedy movies from Roxanne. Also, daytime television is not the greatest so the movies will help and give Kevin and I something to watch this weekend - that is if none of the football games are worth watching. Speaking of football I hope the KV Tigers can get their first win of the season tonight!! I also hope that the Bears game is on here but I doubt it, probably the Rams - sorry but BOO!
One of my favorite day nurses was back to take care of me today. Kendra was actually on call today and took care of me until 3pm. It was nice to have a familiar face taking care of me. She had been on nursery duty the past couple days she had worked so that is why I hadn't seen her. She was happy to see me and we had some nice little chats throughout the day. I hope she is back again real soon!
I've also picked my August read back up to try and finish - The Prince of Tides, very good and when I finish and mom comes for her next visit we are going to rent the movie. She promises me it does the book justice, something I am very skeptical of when they try to make a book a movie. So we'll see. I think when I finish reading it I will try Jodi Piccoult's Nineteen Minutes. We'll see.
Oh yea a medical update might be in order huh! The Dr came in this morning and was her cheery, happy self - refreshing and encouraging! Again the goal is 34 weeks, which is about 19 days from today. When we reach that point if fluid levels of good we wont deliver and try to get to 37 weeks, if we get there we will probably induce. If after 34 weeks I start laboring they won't stop it as the risks would outweigh the rewards. Her gut is that we are on the right track and are going to hit 34 weeks. She also said if her gut feeling changes she will let me know. I am glad she is being upfront and honest with us, her good news makes it a lot easier to just sit here. I had a few questions and she was quick with good detailed answers that also relaxed me. She did say that there may be a chance past 34 weeks to go home until baby decides to come.... Going home might be kind of nice, but there is definitely something very reassuring about being here already - though we know Kevin won't have any trouble getting us here!! I love you deer!
Baby is still doing wonderful, moving plenty and heart beat is still great. I'm still not feeling any contractions and really pushing the fluids so that my amniotic levels stay normal.
I had several visitors through the day yesterday. My Friend Kelli and her husband Derek were here for lunch, she brought Panera and it was heavenly!! Thanks Kel. I hope they stop by with their little ones this weekend, I can't wait to meet their little girl. We talked about parenting, sleep or lack of, coaching, jobs, LIFE!! It was a very nice visit and I wish we were closer to see them more often. Then last night Travis and his mom Jasmin stopped by. It was a nice interruption to the monotony of the evening. They even brought cookies and milk, which I think contributed to a wonderful nights sleep. She also brought me a parenting book, something we will for sure be reading. It was nice to visit with both of them and have some more encouraging words and thoughts! Thanks for coming by it sure was thoughtful!!
I also received a package in the mail from my Aunt Kim. Two great books to add to the rotation - Pregnancy meditations and chicken soup for the pregnant mom's soul. These will sure help keep me positive through my stay!! I also don't know if I mentioned the package I received the day before from the Poker Club... It was a true care package and full of great things - books, treats, playing cards. Very thoughtful ladies (I'm sure it wasn't the guys idea :)) thank you! I've also received more cards and e-cards and they have been full of sweet words and love. Thank you so much for thinking of us during this time! The power of prayer is truly amazing!
I'm so glad that football season has started. Though last nights game wasn't terribly exciting it sure bring options to nightly television. Also our fall shows start next week and I wont miss a one :) I can't wait for Parenthood to start and the new one Up All Night. Something new.
Well I think I could go on and on but Kevin will be here soon and I'm really anxious to see him.
Enjoy the Friday night lights and catch you all on the flip side!!
