A room with a view - Day 2 of blogging and Day 12 of bed rest

It's a new dawn, it's a new day!! It looks gorgeous outside from my room window! I actually have a great view from my bad. My room looks out to the birthing center parking lot. this is where parents park to come pick up new mom and baby. It's exciting to see them going home and the light at the end of the tunnel for me!! Also, there is a nice garden right outside my window that I can look at too. I think my mom may have had some different flower choices, but for us green thumb beginners it looks great!!

I do not have a roommate and I hope not to. It is nice when people visit or Kevin comes for the weekend to not have to share the space. Honestly I don't know where someone would stay in here if they did move them, I have so much stuff. Cards, balloons, books, magazines, pictures, and just plain STUFF! The comforts of home I would say!

My day begins about 2AM with a trip to the bathroom and the nurse coming in to check my vitals. SO far so good. Temps been consistent at 98.something and blood pressure fluctuates depending on time of day and what I have been doing.

Then at 6 the night nurse makes her last stop in with my heartburn med and hooks me up to baby heart rate monitor and contraction monitor. I was up before they got here so I decided to pick up The Prince of Tides and pick up where my summer reading left off. She came in at about 6:15 and hooked me up, so to speak.  They do this for about 30 minutes to make sure all is well in Baby Powell's little home. We are generally around 140's and no contractions still. YEA!!!

I continued to read until breakfast came, about 7:15 the food service brought breakfast, today it was scrambled eggs, O'Brien potatoes, Bacon, orange juice, and a biscuit. All very good, I cleaned my plate. Oh and the ever important milk!! Calcium to strengthen baby's bones. I watched Saved by the Bell with breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed catching up on the junior years with Miss Bliss, however the high school cast is WAY better!!

I was pretty tired yet so I decided to nap. I recently downloaded some Michael Buble so turned him on and  out like a light I was!! Two hours later I'm up and updating the world on my life as a Boone Hospital resident. They should be down shortly with morning meds and the day nurse will greet me with a smile and how barrage of questions-they are great at what they do! I will take my daily vitamins - 3 fish oil, 1 ferrous sulfate, 1 prenatal vitamin, 1 vitamin D, 1 heartburn med (this one I get twice a day), and one antibiotic to keep away or fight off any infections. So two glasses of water later BP has its daily doses for brain development, strong bones, strong heart and lungs, and just becoming that all star we all know it already is!

I have had nothing but absolutely wonderful nurses furing the last 12 days I've been here! I feel bad because I don't remember all their names, but a couple who I've had consistently or remember are Anne - she is awesome, she's on days and really takes great care of me, Jen- night, Molly - night, I think I had an Ashley, before they moved me down to floor 2 Kirsten was my day nurse on 3 and was GREAT! I hope she stops by sometime to say hi!! All of the staff is great too, food service, housekeeping, the volunteers who deliver cards, flowers, baloons. Everyone is just so nice!! It's refreshing to see, there is hope!

I've got a visitor coming at lunch today and am excited to have the familiar company. Kelli is also being so kind as to bring me lunch of my choosing, and since you can't get it in Kirksville I've opted for Panera Bread. I'm looking forward to the meal, but more so visiting with Kel and learning more about how her little family is growing and doing! What a great friend!

Past that I don't know what else is on the docket for today, maybe just lying low and resting for Kevin's weekend visit. He will be down tomorrow evening after JH football practice gets out. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM!!

Check back later with more excitement from C-249!
